Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
