Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor in the world by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
