Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.
