Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
