Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
