Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
