Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
