Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
