Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
