Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
