Stu is thought to be by most to the greatest No Limit Hold em Poker gambler ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in ‘53 and began wagering poker prior to becomming a teenager.

The young bettor began betting gin and at the age of ten had won his initial gin tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the age of 14 the little poker genius had become a pro and stopped going to school.

In ‘54 Stu Ungar entered the record books by winning 10 grand in a gin rummy tournament without losing a single hand, a record which still stands in New York today.

The quick speaking superstar has been likened, in poker terms, to athletic greats like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu Ungar had a true ability for betting poker except in spite of his achievements in Texas hold em poker, he preferred wagering gin.

Stu once said that there may several day be a greater No Limit Texas hold’em gambler than him but he could not see how anyone could ever be a far better gin player.

In ‘80 Stu Ungar was put on the global map as one of the finest Hold em Poker players in the globe when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the 1st time. Amazingly it was the first time he had played in the tournament.

The following year he put aside any thoughts that it had been a fluke, by successfully protecting his title. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by succeeding his 3rd World poker championship.

Except this poker legend also fought with drug abuse and a year right after winning his 3rd title Stu past away in his hotel room. According to medical doctors, he had passed away from a heart attack which was triggered by his lifestyle.

Stu had began with practically nothing but his ability and natural talent for the casino game which made this poker excellent a millionaire a lot of times over.
